Wide base,narrow base,stride direction,stride length,2 plane arc,1 plane arc,load timing,type of load,degree of bat tilt,etc.
The purpose of the post was to provide some thoughts on improving the hitter with timing problems. Work on timing various speed pitches that he will see in games(sit on one speed) and take all mechanical thoughts out of the equation. Trust your body to make the mechanical adjustments necessary to accomplish your goal.

Jerry has a good point, We use the swiftstick and the wiffle ball machine to get more like 200 to 250 swings in per day helping build muscle memory so that when it is a live game situation its just go up and swing. The wiffle ball machine also allows us to work on timing and get the student hitting out in front ect...

We want the kids hitting out in front, the machine allows you to train the eyes to hit the ball where we want. I also move the ball outside and low during the 6th and 7th day. Its 2 to 300 swings of teaching the student to hit the ball where they are suppose to followed up by another 2 days of the same. Its makes a difference IMO.

Dmac,
Your suggestion was awesome. I hope you saw it. All of it.
Brandon had a night that he's worked hard for for 6 years.
I'm ticked that my camera ran out of battery. But, I'm thankful I got what you see.
Brandon hit 3 HR's in a double header tonight. He has never hit a HR in a game before. The first one came in his first at bat of the night....and the swings you see are from that at bat. Strike one. Strike two. Blast.
I even like the swing and misses. But, can you see the slightest change he made (on his own) that made the difference between the swing and misses and the HR?
The second HR, this is no lie, came in the bottom of the 7th, game tied 2-2, runner on first base, 2 outs......HE HIT A WALK OFF GAME WINNING HR.
And, then, first at bat of the second game, he hit another.
All of them to right centerfield.
Is it too self-promotionist to add this swing to the Best of Class? The before and after clips are stunning.
Dmac,
He just hit tonight. He didn't think about his swing. He didn't think about do this or do that. He learned to trust tonight. He saw the ball and trusted his swing.
Brad, my other son, also hit a HR....his was of the inside the park variety. He has not benefited from all the teaching as he was away at college when Brandon and I started this trek...and although we tried to make something happen over the internet, and during the summers, he eventually suffered a college career ending hand injury...and so he took up football for his last couple of years at college. Hand is better so he's back at it with us. Fun to play together. Brad leads off, I hit 4th (not for long), Brandon hits 6th.
This wasn't it but this was a hit in his first at bat of the night. You should see this kid run......and throw.

Inward coil, lead shoulder going down slightly............look at the patch on his right arm and it's relationship to the fence. The camera angle is slightly off in comparison to the first two clips but I notice more of a running start. Almost like he knew what pitch was coming.
Also - look at the position of his hands (cocked) just before launch. He really looks like he was ready to go on that last swing.

I see him cocking the bat / hands more in the last clip. Definitely see separation.
(Same as what Stealth sees)
Stealth, your tribute to Dmac has me speechless. Very nice.
Richard, your comments to him, frankly, have me choked up.
Suddenly, with Dmac's passing, the stark reality of life grabs me and reminds me of priorities, and perspective.
Brandon, Congratulations. Richard I share your joy.
