....whether your elbow leads the hands or not.
FACT.
PROVEN FACT.
PROVEN FACT EVEN IF YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND IT.
Adair is a 'swing' idiot.
So is Nyman
So is JJA
So is MarkH
So is Englishbey.
To the above....
THEIR UNDERSTANDING IS NOT A PREREQUISITE FOR A FACT TO BE THE TRUTH.
The force must be applied perp to the handle....or....you will drag the bat.
100% TRUE.

NEVER FORGET THAT.
Do not confuse hudspah......with fact.
Do not let someone's misinterpretation of his own demo....stand in the way of your understanding of truth.
You realize Nyman is afraid to debate me, right?
In order to understand/appreciate the simulations is important understand the following or should I say "buy into" the following:
1. High-level hitting is about rotation.
2. Momentum is a vector in his direction and magnitude.
3. Compound pendulum is a specific example of momentum transfer. But momentum transfer of momentum transfer and is not exclusive to the compound pendulum. All it requires is one or more objects having mass and velocity that are connected together.
4. Hitting a baseball is about transferring momentum from the bat in a plane that will drive the ball in the opposite direction of the swing with maximum transfer of momentum to the ball.
5. Swing a bat is gyroscopic in nature meaning that when the bat is moving at maximum velocity around the axis of rotation is very difficult to move the bat out of the plane of rotation (medicus segmented bat phenomena).
6. At the point of contact high-level hitters more often than not demonstrate the bat traveling in a plane that is parallel to the rotation of the shoulders.
7. Even though many hitters that the bat in more of a vertical position, upon initiation of the swing the barrel the bat (center of mass of the bat) drops immediately into the plane of the swing. I.e. there is virtually no component perpendicular to the plane of the path of the bat.
8. Centripetal force plays a significant role in swinging a bat. Centripetal force is planner and its actions.
9. All of which is to say that simulating the swing of a high-level player as it approaches bat ball contact is essentially in a plane perpendicular to the rotational axis of the upper torso. Which lends itself quite nicely to a two-dimensional simulation.
Don't expect to change their mind, Mud. They are not interested in truth.
