It's one of the metrics offered by Zepp. We used to measure it by counting the frames on video from first move of the bathead into the swing plane till contact. Generally speaking five frames on 30fps video will get you some fun. Four frames is much better.

Guy on the left is dragging the bat. Guy on the right is whipping the bat.
Guy on the left has a HUGE delay from decision to start.
Guy on the right is INSTANTANEOUS at decision.
They still believe this 5 frame count bull shit after all these years.
I can post 1000's or 5 frame swings....OF AMATEURS....that don't come close to matching the high level pattern....and suffer from bat drag.
THE MOST IMPORTANT MEASUREMENT.....is the time from DECISION TO CONTACT.
HOW SUDDEN IS YOUR SWING?
And PCR, PCRW, Englishbey and Nyman NONSENSE....hip rotation NONSENSE....can not come close to developing the suddenness needed to hit at a high level.
The clip above is great at showing the problem.
I would DESTROY him in the Command Drill.
Will he ever learn that you can only see what you can see. And you'll never see until you feel?
There is nothing more garbage than his claim that rotation occurs around the lead leg. That would REQUIRE 'shift then swing' which simply can not happen.
He has NEVER developed a swing with the high level barrel path. And never will.
And....he's so afraid to debate me. If we had an in person debate, with a bat and ball...and a tee and toss or BP....and a camera.....he would have to mea culpa.
But guess what....he would still choose the route of dishonesty over truth.
