You see....people struggle with words....even when words lead to a certain feel that is exceptional. Until you look for 'feels'....you aren't going to reach the pattern. And you'll continue to be puzzled by words. You can move all you want....you can create all the movements you want....in order....in the sequence that is being promoted....yet....NEVER ACHIEVE THE LOAD THAT LEADS TO THE HIGH LEVEL SWING. And the internet is full of instructors who teach that....yet can't develop a player that has a good swing.
Working with a MLB player that had 7 yrs big league experience, he once told me of a drill that was simply...."keep your rear heel from lifting". What did he mean? What did that do? Why would you do it?
Well...first of all....the words create an action....a thing to do....a verb. 'Keep the rear heel down'. Did the words say what will actually happen? Or did the words say to do something....to TRY something....that actually can't be done....if your intent is to hit the ball hard. Yet...by trying it....something special can happen?
You see....WHO are you talking to? WHAT do they know about what you teach? Are they beginners? Or have they worked with you for a long time? And....do they actually attempt what you suggest? Virtually EVERYONE that came to HI.com and left unsatisfied...has later ADMITTED....they didn't do what was being taught. They didn't attempt what was being demo'd. And then left claiming their NON-ATTEMPTS prove them right. That what is taught here doesn't work.

'Keep your rear heel from lifting'....and....'Do not rotate until you make contact'....are essentially the same command. Different words. Yet they just might create the same result. BOTH, if accomplished, will keep rotation from happening. Or will they? Maybe....just maybe....they will create a REAL LOAD....not the artificial load that a movement sequence teaches you.
What virtually EVERYONE on the internet doesn't understand....is that MOVEMENT does not create a load. Your load comes AFTER movement. It comes AFTER you've reached the range of motion limit of your movement. Movement simply removes slack so that you can now load. So....IF....you've already moved to remove slack....and THEN....you attempt to NOT let your rear heel rise....or....NOT let rotation happen until after contact (I would prefer to say 'until after LAUNCH' instead....but I get his point)....and THEN....try to hit the shit out of the ball....you just might learn something about the high level pattern.
Maybe the greatest drill ever....is the Command Drill. The Command Drill EXPOSES slack and slop like no other. And, after you realize your problem....getting good at the Command Drill FIXES it.
Those that NEED an arm to time....those that NEED an Iron Mike...that has an arm....to time....over a wheel machine....have long swings. Period.
Guess what they need to do?
They need to 'keep their heel down'....and 'not allow rotation until after launch'....so they can learn a REAL load.
End of story.
After having eye-opening bp session....they shake their head and ask "why is this the first time I've heard this"?
