Before one can have the suddenness of the high level pattern....the ground forces have to be raised to the scap/spine junction prior to launch. If they are still at the ground at go....they have too far to go....with too much slop in between....and not enough time to get there....and a push of the barrel will be certain.
If they have been raised to the scap....through the rag wring load....with the torsion spring like load ready to unload....they are....can be.... INSTANTLY released into the ball with a barrel turn.
Early. Quick. Sudden.
The move....simply can not raise the forces beyond the hip....that is why they push with the arms. They only get momentum from the lower body....not a drive train....so the arms fill the void.
ANY SWING that doesn't hold/clamp/pinch/pullback the scap until after go....will NEVER have a corner....and will push the barrel....EVEN IF OTHER loading takes place properly.
Without proper scap usage....the forces from the leg/hip/ground....will dissipate through the torso....they will leak into the torso....and will not be there to energize/power the barrel turn. Like a garden hose with a spray attachment and the water turned on....if there is a leak in the hose....or at the connection....the pressure bleeds....and the water can't shoot as far.
When you are not right at the scap....your pressure bleeds....and the swing can not be sudden. Arms will be recruited.
What is interesting is....that pressure that builds....feels wrong....so players 'relieve the pressure'....when in fact....that pressure is absolutely right. It is the spine turning INTO the scap as the scap resists....that builds the pressure....that can be released suddenly at go. Without that pressure....you will need your arms.
The only way a turning leg's energy can reach the barrel....is when the scap/spine junction IS HELD. If you are loose there....you will push the barrel.
The SCAP....holds....monitors....stores....keeps....th e forces right where they need to be for the sudden launch.
This scap hold/clamp/pinch/pullback talk....is not a load. A load will unload. You do not want the scap to unload. You want it held throughout the launch. When it is overdone....you load it....and therefore unload it....and that is a push.
The scap action IS NOT a rear arm action. It is simply controlling the scap so it doesn't slide around....so the pressure can build.
MOST OVER DO IT....and therefore pooh pooh it.
The line between doing nothing with the scap....and over doing the scap....is fine....BUT ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL.
It isn't the scap working.....as much as it is the scap resisting movement....resisting the spine's turn.....at the junction....so that the bent sheet metal can SNAP forward....instead of being pushed forward.

The missing link is the E to the 1....the O to the 3....the S to the 5.
