  • Inside Seam Drill

The Inside Seam Drill is a drill used to teach hitters the proper angle of attack. A common flaw of young hitters is to hit "around" the ball....hitting the outside seam and pulling everything....leaving them vulnerable to the outside corner pitch.

Notice the ball on the tee is set so that the two seams are vertical. The goal is to hit the inside seam....the seam closest to the hitter....AND drive the ball to the back of the cage.

Of course, in a game, not every ball will be hit up the middle. But, this is the optimal angle of attack that will allow you to hit the pitch where it should be hit based on the pitch location and your timing.
