  • The "Posture"

An athletic posture is what is needed in your batting stance. It resembles the "linebacker" position in football or the defensive stance in basketball. The upper and lower body best INERFACE when the player assumes the proper SPINE ANGLE. It is that "position" from which the body can react quickly. Hitters vary their starting set up but by the time their lead foot plants they all look very similar. They all get to an athletic posture from which to swing the bat. The width of your feet, the tilt of the body and the bend at the knees and waist are all personal. Trial and error will help you find your hitting posture.

Young hitters commonly create a hump in their upper back with bend across the shoulder blades, a tucked rump and locked knees. This is not a good starting point. By assuming a straight back and a better spine angle, the player becomes more vertically loaded and set to transfer energy.
